Athletic Volition
One-On-One Coaching
At Athletic Volition, we specialize in custom coaching plans. We realize everyone is different; everyone has different goals, desires, genetics, training time and personalities. All of these things are factors in athletic training. Athletic Volition shuns the training plans and coaching schools which offer "levels" of coaching. We also ignore common coaching principles which lead people to believe that their time is worth only what they pay for. At Athletic Volition, we believe that no matter what type of plan you need you deserve our undivided attention. That's why we offer only custom training and coaching plans. So whether you are looking for a coach for running, swimming, cycling, triathlon or cyclocross, Athletic Volition can help. We can talk to you about your preferences on coaching and instruction so that you are comfortable with your training. Here are some comments from our clients: - "Thanks for coaching me. You are really talented at teaching and motivating people!" Carl C. - "If you think it's doable, I can do it. That's why I have you for a coach: to achieve much more than what I think I can!" Amari H. - "I was a bit skeptical about enlisting the help of a coach as I felt that my background as a competitive swimmer and coach would allow me to manage my training. I started looking for a coach to help me evaluate my running; specifically form and mechanics as running is by far my weakest discipline as a triathlete. During our first session, Chris examined my running and spent most of the time demonstrating and suggesting ways of altering my approach to make me more efficient and ultimately faster. I left the session with about 6 to 8 different areas to work on, but I was still unsure whether the time and money was well-spent. After meeting with Chris for the first time, my perspective has completely changed. After leaving the session, I decided to go for a run (it was my typical run day and since we did not do much running during the session I felt like a run would improve my outlook). I decided to try and incorporate one (yup - just one) of the recommendations that Chris made during the run. The results were remarkable (at least for me). During the past couple months, I have had training runs of varying distances up to 8 miles. Occassionally, I would run 5K at a high effort (PER of 8-9) and gauge my progress by looking at time, pace, heartrate, recovery etc. Today, my run resulted in a training best nearly 2 minutes faster than my previous best effort. I am very encouraged by the results, and look forward to incorporating more of the suggestions and recommendations as I continue training. " David A. - "I also want to thank you for helping me work towards this. A few months ago, I would not have been able to finish, what I did today. I am really looking forward to working with you and improving. Thanks again...!!! Kenny N. "I’m pushing 49 and have been a quadriplegic for almost 29 years. But despite my limitations, I can honestly say that you helped me get into the best shape of my life. The last time I did a bicep strength test, for example, I curled nearly my own weight and was rated in the 97th percentile for men my age—regardless of my disability. · I still swim regularly in my own pool. As you recall, this is how I got started in 2006. But there’s a huge difference between then and now in my technique, confidence, and capability. I don’t pause at the wall, for example, to make my turn. When I swim 84 meters (six laps), for example, I do 11 flip turns. Not bad for a 48-year old quadriplegic, and you played the pivotal role in enabling that. · “Intervals…” I can still hear you saying that. I hear it when I swim, in the middle of a flip turn, and when I’m trying to catch my breath after a set. I think I’ll always hear it, and I’ll always be grateful for the disciplined technique you led me to adopt. Anybody can work hard. But unless they’ve been taught proper technique, chances are good they’ll soon be discouraged, not realizing they’re probably getting in their own way. Your specialty is encouraging people to change without imposing on them. It’s a great combination… you take their own will and determination, and focus it with technique and structure. That makes a winning team." Clayton P. If you have the need or desire for a coach, give us a call. We're here to help you achieve your goals in a practical, personalized manner.
